Why "Purity"?
After all of our experimentation and fanciness, we've gone back to basics. Our newest soap is a genuine Castile, containing only three ingredients: olive oil, deionized water, and sodium hydroxide.
This is, therefore, the purest soap there is. It's the original unadulterated Castile soap. In fact, because we make our soaps via the hot process method, this is truly the original soap and method.
Granted, it is unlikely that the original makers of soap used crock pots... what with the lack of electricity and all. It's much more likely that they used a big cauldron over a fire, in fact. I'll be honest, we're not going to go that way. We're all for tradition and authenticity, but we've only got twenty-four hours in a day. Back in the days when the method included cauldron and fire, I'd bet people were pretty much making their own soap for their own families, rather than running businesses like ours. I'd also bet that the ones who were in business weren't running it over the Internet, so their market was a tad more limited. Add to that our rather excitable dog and three very curious cats, and an open fire is just not a good idea. Aside from that, though, and back on-topic, this is the original basic soap. No scent, no color, no additives at all. This also makes it vegan, as you can imagine. This, of course, makes Purity the best soap possible for those with any skin sensitivities or allergies. Well, if you're allergic to olives, I imagine it's not the best idea. What's it look like, then? Well, rather like this: Pure, creamy white. Nothing else. We love it. It's already available on the Reef Botanicals site, but we will debut its in-person sales on Tuesday evening, at the Clockwork event. Come visit us!

Clockwork is an experiment in creating a really, really fun, inclusive night for pretty much anyone with an interest in things steampunkish, neo-Victorian, or generally retro-futuristic… as well as anyone who simply thinks those things are cool.
The performance lineup for the second Clockwork–Tuesday, January 5th–is:
…in an all-too-rare appearance in the United States, coming to us directly from Paris, is
Marie Darling cigaretteThe amazing Marie Darling! Friends, we hope you do not mind hearing fun, bright, clever, insidiously enjoyable songs, sung by talented and beautiful Frenchwomen who are stunningly, amazingly friendly and nice. Because the inimitable Marie Darling is taking time out of her brief trip to these shores in order to stop by Clockwork!
psyche-playingAnd we cannot forget our house band, the lovely and talented Psyche Corporation. If you’re not familiar with her work – it takes place in a world of her own creation, wherein she weaves tales of reverie sellers and the Shadow Court which surrounds them. In addition to the dark Shadow Queen, Cyberpunk mistress of dreams and owner of souls, they also feature a lead singer who is…ridiculously friendly and nice.
Matt DeBlass - with a ukulele he made! And finally, the third contender in our Performer Nice-Off is Matt Deblass. Matt came out to the very first Clockwork, and is an outstanding performer, often known for his Celtic work, and gracing us, at Clockwork, with–among other things–authentic sea shanties. (And perhaps a few surprises!) In keeping with the Steampunk spirit of do-it-yourself creation, Matt is also a talented instrument maker. Ask him about it! Like our other two entertainers, Matt is a really friendly fellow.
We’re not kidding – it’s a Performer Nice-Off. Who shall be the nicest? Only time will tell!
This month’s theme is “Steam Pirates“, but you are not required to dress like a pirate (steampunk or otherwise) unless you want to. Come and be comfortable! It’s not about how you dress, it’s about coming by and enjoying good company and good times in a Steampunk setting, with lots and lots to enjoy.
There’ll be decoration! Dinner! Drinkery! And cookies! Let us not forget the cookies!
Clockwork is not just a dance – it’s dinner and a show! (It’s not a really really fancy dinner, but it’s still an insanely great value.) For your $15, you get:
~The dance & DJ
~Our small group of splendid steamy vendors, including Steampunk Tarot readings for those so inclined
~Performances by Matt DeBlass, Marie Darling, and our house band Psyche Corporation, as well as, generally, random neat things by various talented attendees.
and:
-Either two drinks, or a dinner which includes:
A chicken sandwich or a cheese steak sandwich, or rigatoni with chicken; a green salad; French fries; and a soda!
Clockwork takes place at the hotel which will be hosting the Steampunk World’s Faire. It’s created by, among others, the folks behind www.WickedFaire.com, and some of the folks behind www.SteampunkWorldsFair.com.
As a new night, we succeed or fail based on how happy we can make you. Do come out and help us become something amazing! The event is held at the Radisson 21 Kingsbridge Road, Piscataway, NJ 08854
For more information, feel free to email clockworksinfo@gmail.com. And find us on Facebook – http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=199450289521&ref=ts.

Dearly beloved,
Do you like these events? Would you like to see them succeed? Would you just plain enjoy telling people about them?
Then please, please visit these two spots, and - in a courteous and appropriate manner, in appropriate places - steal those promo materials like mad, and put them in every appropriate place you can find!

If you were at Halloween in December, you saw our wares to date... the soaps, the sugar scrubs, the candles. We had a blast there and were happy to have you come by and give us feedback. We were also really happy at the great reception we got. As it turns out, YES, we will have our stuff at Wicked! We are able to fit it in the same space with my face & body painting gear, so... you get to get painted and then buy the means to wash it off! Ha! Plus, we've got a new addition! We have come up with our first soap specifically for men - a shaving soap! ( Read further for more info... )... and come see it at Wicked!
